In general, when multiple switches are in series, all switches must obviously be closed to finally apply power to the load, and it stands to reason that only after closing the last switch does the current actually flow and the load is activated...in that case, all of the earlier switches were "Cold-Switched", only the last one is "Hot-Switched", with its contact having to endure the moment of arcing and plasma which occurs when it finally closes the current path
